The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is the student organization representing graduate students from all academic disciplines at Kansas State University. Any organization with graduate student membership is invited to participate in the council, and council activities are open to all graduate students.

GSC Initiatives, Opportunities, and Activities

The GSC aims to enhance the graduate student experience by providing graduate students opportunities for professional development, networking, and leadership. Additionally, the GSC awards travel grants for students to participate in professional meetings and conferences. Students participate in a variety of networking events sponsored by GSC and other graduate student organizations.

Monthly MeetingsThe GSC meets on the first Monday of every month during the fall and spring semesters. All graduate students are welcome to attend to learn about upcoming events and opportunities and to engage in discussion about important issues that impact graduate student life.

GSC Professional Development Seminar Series
The GSC strives to provide informational meetings, workshops, and forums that enhance the professional development of graduate students. Students who participate in at least five GSC professional development events in an academic year are presented with a professional development certificate.

Research Forums
Research forums held each fall and spring semester provide graduate students the opportunity to present their research or scholarly work to the K-State community.

Travel Awards
Participation in professional conferences and meetings provides graduate students with opportunities to advance their research and build their professional network. Attending professional events also enhances the graduate student experience as well as the visibility of the university. Graduate students participating in professional conferences and meetings may apply for a travel award from the GSC to support travel and registration expenses.
